Andrea Turner Qualifies for Whistler Cup

(Updated March 12th, 2008)

Andrea Turner has qualified for team Alberta at the Sierra Wireless Whistler Cup in April for the second season in a row.  After two intense days of qualifying time trials at Nakiska - Andrea finished in 2nd place overall based on race points and won three of 8 runs over two days.

Five athletes from Paskapoo competed in the time trials and all skied very well.  Andrea St. Germain had an off-day in the SL trials but came roaring back in GS and just narrowly missed the team, finishing as the 2nd-alternate.  Megan Henkelman had some of her best runs of the season and was the top Paskapoo athlete in 2 of the runs.  Karolina Donnelly skied very well and proved that she belonged in the elite group of girls racing off.  Zoe Hertz should be commended for fighting through injury to post solid SL times.

The Whistler Cup is the premiere international junior race event and features top K1 and K2 athletes from 17 countries and takes place April 4 - 6, 2008.  Good luck Andrea - we know you will make Paskapoo proud!
