President's Message
President's Message - 2006/2007 Ski Season
We are back! Spring and summer have evaporated and fall has almost arrived. Anticipation grows as the athletes get back into the groove of dryland training, buying new gear and getting together with their ski friends that they may not have seen for the last few months. For those new to Paskapoo, welcome to the club! For those returning, welcome back!
We continue to try to improve our club by making our programs more interesting and competitive. This summer, our athletes trained at Farnham Glacier’s Camp Green for the first time and our FIS athletes are off to Tignes, France this fall. Over the last few years, the club has been moving in a more competitive direction. This is mainly the result of the work and commitment by our Program Director, Jeff Books.
This will be our second season partnering with Skimeisters for the entry level programs. Last season was very successful as many families are planning to return and are bringing friends with them. Growth at the entry level is very positive for Paskapoo.
Parent volunteers are what keeps the Paskapoo machine running. Without them, our club would not exist. I thank all those that chose to step up and help make a positive contribution to the club. I encourage all parents to consider taking on a role and making a difference for the athletes. It’s a great way to get to know many of the other families from the other programs and give back what the club has done for your athlete.
Fundraising activities are vital to our club’s sustainability. We depend on funds raised at our casinos and silent auctions to keep costs reasonable. Our casino was very successful this past spring. Funds raised will be split over this season and next to help offset expenses. Last fall’s silent auction was also very successful, considering the short time we had to get it going. It was also a great social event to kick off the season and I am looking forward to this year’s event – November 03/06.
See you there!
Be fit, ski fast and have fun!
